Vaňhal in Paris near Eiffel Tower

The concert hall of the Czech Republic Embassy in Paris, an ancient palace of the Princess de Ligne near Eiffel Tower, located at 15, avenue Charles Floquet, F-75007 Paris, will host an extraordinary event  on November 5, 2015, at 8 p.m. with the following program:

Dr. Martial Leroux, an eminent French musicologist, having University Paris-IV Sorbonne degree, lecturer, Professor of the music history at the Garches Conservatory, host of concerts, author of numerous musicological books, collaborator at encyclopedias of Grove (UK), MGG (Germany) and Bordas (France), as well as at Deutsche Grammophon, will speak in French (about 1/2 hour) on the theme:

“Vaňhal and Bohemian musicians in the classical Vienna”

recalling concerts organization and musicians meetings in that hectic activities capital, end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century: VIENNA, BEACON OF MUSICAL IMMIGRATION. He will use contemporary chronicles and composers memoirs who visited the Austrian capital.

A concert of Vanhal’s chamber music (about an hour):

  • String quartet in A , Op. 33 No. 2
  • String quartet in E flat “Hoffmeister” No. 2

played by a string quartet whose leader is Mr. Mayeul  Girard, viola, ex member of the Quatuor Girard and a member of the Ensemble Gustave, Professor  at the Caen Conservatory.

At the close, a glass of wine by the Czech Embassy.
